A non-profit, non-governmental organization that aims to create a discussion of carbon taxes in the national arena, and at the state and local levels as well.
Climate Ark
Climate Change and global warming portal. For the last several years it has proposed a small U.S. government federal charge initially of $5 per ton of carbon emitted as CO2, which for gasoline is about 1 cent per gallon.
Cool Cities
A website of the 776 cities in the United States that have made a commitment to stopping global warming by limiting their carbon emission.

Regional Initiatives

Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative
Focuses on local action plans throughout the country. The Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI or “ReGGIe”) is a cooperative effort by nine Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states to discuss the design of a regional cap-and-trade program initially covering carbon dioxide emissions from power plants in the region.
Greenprint Denver
Denver’s action plan track their environmental impact.
Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative
Ongoing effort (begun 2003) to craft permit rules for cap-and-trade system governing carbon emissions from electricity generation in Northeast U.S.

Scientists offer background information on, and a portal to, important news about global warming. They also give information on personal, energy friendly choices from transportation to food.
World Resources Institute
The World Resources Institute is an environmental think tank that provides practical ways to protect the earth and improve people’s lives.
